Altered States of Light Vol 1 is a transportive space accelerating movement between the visible and the invisible. It takes the form of a room-sized device. Staged in a glazed street front at a busy intersection in Seoul, twenty-nine pillars of holographic matter are arranged into a labyrinth for light and visitors natural and artificial lights mingle in this otherworldly anteroom, ever changing through the day and night. It is site specific and light specific; a magic space adjacent to the everyday where car headlights, video, and the sun can meet.
Commissioned by Hyundai Motor Studio, the work has since entered the Hyundai collection.
