To build something one must first have a site on which to build. How this site is chosen and what its identity is will ultimately dictate the purpose of what is to be built. To have a site with no meaning is to have a structure without purpose. To consecrate a site is to en dower it with the significance needed to justify the build. To build a cosmos on a microcosmic scale. The Gnomon was used in antiquity to trace the path of the sun and thus orientate a building accordingly.
